Contact persons at the btS office in Regensburg

The Local Board Members

Leah Völkl

Chairwoman

Hello, my name is Leah. I’m doing a Master’s degree in Molecular Medicine and have been a member of btS since January 2024. My favourite events so far have been our PubQuiz and the presentation of various research groups at the university and the hospital. I can recommend btS to anyone who wants to organise events in a fun way and make new personal and professional contacts in the process.

Daniel Loibl

Chief Financial Officer

Hi, I’m Daniel, a Master’s student in Biology and a member of btS Regensburg since March 2024. As second board member, I’m primarily responsible for the branch’s financial affairs. My personal btS highlight was seeing the high number of registrations for the talk by the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), our Federal Criminal Police Office.

Nina Schwarzmann

Board member

Hi, I’m Nina. I’m doing a Master’s in Biology and have been part of btS Regensburg since June 2025. Starting this year, I’ve also joined our team of board members here in Regensburg. What I love most about btS is how a small idea or a spontaneous thought can turn into a major event for lots of students. With us, anyone can contribute and bring ideas to life, true to the motto “by students, for students”. Your first self-organized event is a real highlight because you get to experience the whole process from planning to execution. In my case, that was the PubQuiz and a talk by the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), our Federal Criminal Police Office, which were a real success for me!

Jessica Costabel

Board member

Hi there! My name is Jess. I’m our ‘long-distance’ member and I’m currently doing a Master’s in Biotechnology in Innsbruck. I did my Bachelor’s in beautiful Regensburg, of course, which I already miss. I’ve been a member of btS since March 2025 and am now also part of our local executive board. My favourite btS event is also the first one I was allowed to organise: the job application workshop in collaboration with the A.S.I.. I’m still incredibly proud of this event, and that’s exactly why I can recommend btS to everyone: here, you learn to surpass yourself as part of a community made up of an absolutely fantastic group of people!

Neoklis Kasimatis

Servus everyone! My name is Neoklis and I’m doing a Master’s degree in Biology. I’ve been actively involved with btS since October 2022. I was so impressed after my very first meeting that I decided to get actively involved myself. Shortly afterwards, I was elected to the local board, where I was responsible for the website, archives and marketing for two years. I also organised numerous projects, excursions and events. I’m currently involved in the organisation team for our Germany-wide life sciences career fair, ‘ScieCon’, where I help with company recruitment, company support and marketing. At btS, I’ve not only gained valuable experiences but also met lots of great people – for me, btS has become like a second family!

Giovanni Ancarani

Hello, my name is Giovanni. I’m doing a Master’s degree in Biology and been with btS since February 2024. Here, I’ve found an environment where I can try out new things and do voluntary work alongside my studies. I’m also involved in the IT team, where we take care of the association’s digital logistics. My favourite event at btS, which I also helped to organise, was the alumni meeting in the summer semester of 2025, where I took charge of the advertisement and introduced the event. It was a great opportunity to chat with alumni about potential career paths after graduation. That’s why I can highly recommend volunteering with btS whilst you’re studying.

Jakob Stabl

Hey, I’m Jakob. I’m doing a Master’s in Biochemistry and am currently working on my Master’s thesis. I’ve been part of btS – more specifically, our group in Regensburg – since May 2025. What I love about btS is that you get to meet lots of new, motivated people who are just as eager as you are to organise exciting events, and where the focus isn’t on partying and “just having something to put on your CV”, but on teamwork and coming up with cool ideas for all possible kinds of student events. I really enjoy the networking and the positive feedback that comes with it, which has motivated me to get involved not only in my local work in Regensburg but also at a wider national level with the btS IT group and the btS weekend team. It’s a decision I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone! So come along and see for yourselves!

Hannah Borgmann

Hello, my name is Hannah and I’m doing a Master’s degree in Biology. I’ve been a member of btS since September 2024 and can really recommend btS to anyone who’s interested in volunteering as part of a team and a nationwide network where they can get involved and contribute their ideas.

Zoë Rauch

Hello, I’m Zoë and I’m doing a Master’s in molecular medicine. I’ve been with btS since April 2025. I’ve particularly enjoyed events where you can chat with alumni and PhD students. I’m now nearly finished with my degree, so this sort of insight into my career options is especially important to me. And sometimes you’re made aware of opportunities you would never have thought of, so feel free to drop by!

Arina Bering

Hello, I’m Arina. I’m studying molecular medicine and have been a member of the btS since March 2026. My favourite event so far has been ‘Ask the Alumni’, as it gave me the chance to learn a lot about potential career paths and pick up some valuable tips for my own future.

Emilie Grothe

Hello, I’m Emilie and I’m doing a Master’s degree in molecular medicine. I’ve been a member of btS since April 2026. What I particularly like about btS is that you get to meet lots of new people here and organise exciting events related to Life Sciences together with other students.
