Leah Völkl

Chairwoman  

Hello, my name is Leah. I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Molecular Medicine and have been a member of btS since January 2024. I’ve since taken on my first role on the executive board in Regensburg. Some of my favorite events so far have been our Pub Quiz and the presentations by various research groups at the university and the hospital. What I particularly like about the btS is the opportunity to help organize events myself and get to know people who share similar interests. That’s why I can recommend the btS to anyone who enjoys organizing events and making new personal and professional connections in the process.

Daniel Loibl

Chief Financial Officer 

Hi, I’m Daniel, a master’s student in biology who has been active with btS Regensburg since March 2024. As the second board member, I’m primarily responsible for the office’s finances. In this role, I support the organizational work at our chapter and help ensure that we can put our events together. A particular highlight of my time at btS so far was seeing the high number of registrations for the BKA lecture for the first time. Seeing how many people were interested in an event we organized was a special moment for me. btS gives me the opportunity to get involved alongside my studies and to work with other students to organize events.

Nina Schwarzmann

Board member 

Hey, I’m Nina. I’m pursuing a master’s degree in biology and have been part of btS Regensburg since June 2025. I’ve also been on our local board since this year. What I love most about btS is how a small idea or a spontaneous thought can turn into a major event for many students. Here, everyone can contribute their own ideas and bring them to life, true to the motto “by students, for students.” I especially love that you get to be part of the entire process, from planning to execution. My highlights were the Pub Quiz we organized ourselves and the BKA lecture, where I got to experience the entire process, from planning to successful execution, for the first time.

Jessica Costabel

Hi hi! My name is Jess. I’m our “long-distance” member and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in biotechnology in Innsbruck. Of course, I earned my bachelor’s degree in beautiful Regensburg, which I already miss. I’ve been a member of btS since March 2025 and am now also part of our local board. My favorite btS event is the job application workshop in collaboration with A.S.I., which I got to plan myself. I’m still incredibly proud of that event! That’s exactly what btS means to me: you can contribute your own ideas, take on responsibility, and get things off the ground together. Above all, you learn to push yourself beyond your limits as part of an absolutely amazing group of people. That’s why I can truly recommend btS to everyone!

Neoklis Kasimatis

Servus everyone! My name is Neoklis. I’m doing a master’s degree in biology and have been active with btS since October 2022. I was thrilled after my very first meeting and decided to join. Shortly afterward, I was elected to the local board, where I was responsible for the website, archives, and marketing for two years. I also organized numerous projects, field trips, and events. Currently, I’m involved in the Germany-wide life sciences career fair “ScieCon,” where I handle company recruitment, company support, and marketing. Through btS, I’ve gained valuable experience and met many wonderful people—it’s become like a second family to me!

Giovanni Ancarani

Hello, my name is Giovanni. I’m pursuing a master’s degree in biology and have been active with btS since February 2024. Here, I’ve found an environment where I can try new things and volunteer alongside my studies. I’m also involved in the IT working group, which handles the association’s digital logistics. My highlight so far was the alumni gathering in the summer semester of 2025, which I helped organize by handling the promotion and opening the event. It was a great opportunity to talk with alumni about possible paths after graduation. That’s why I highly recommend volunteering with btS!

Jakob Stabl

Hey, I’m Jakob. I’m working on my master’s degree in biochemistry and am currently writing my master’s thesis. I’ve been part of btS—or rather, GS Regensburg—since May 2025. I love meeting motivated people here who are just as excited about fun events as I am. The focus here is on teamwork and cool ideas for students—not just partying or “as long as it looks good on your resume.” The networking and positive feedback motivate me to get involved not only in Regensburg but also on a broader level in the IT Working Group and the btS Weekend Team. It’s a decision I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone! So join us and experience it for yourself!

Hannah Borgmann

Hi, my name is Hannah and I’m studying for my master’s degree in biology. I’ve been a member of btS since September 2024. I highly recommend btS to anyone interested in volunteering as part of a team and being part of a Germany-wide network. Here, you can get involved, contribute your own ideas, and work with other students to bring exciting projects and events to life.

Zoë Rauch

Hello, I’m Zoë and I’m doing a Master’s in molecular medicine. I’ve been with btS since April 2025. I’ve particularly enjoyed events where you can chat with alumni and PhD students. I’m now nearly finished with my degree, so this sort of insight into my career options is especially important to me. And sometimes you’re made aware of opportunities you would never have thought of, so feel free to drop by!

Arina Bering

Hi, I’m Arina and I’m studying molecular medicine. I’ve been a member of btS since March 2026. My favorite event so far has been “Ask the Alumni,” where I learned a lot about potential career paths and picked up some valuable tips for my own journey. I find it especially exciting to discover new perspectives for life after university through events like this and to gain insights into different career opportunities.

Emilie Grothe

Hi, I'm Emilie, and I'm pursuing a master's degree in molecular medicine. I’ve been a member of btS since April 2026. What I especially like about btS is that you get to meet lots of new people here and organize exciting events related to the life sciences together with other students. I enjoy being able to contribute my own ideas, work together as a team, and help shape events that are interesting and helpful for other students.
