FAQ
Registration for ScieCon is not mandatory, but it offers many advantages. By registering via the event feature, you can get in touch with companies before the fair and plan your visit more efficiently. This allows you to have targeted discussions with potential employers and ensure that you don’t miss any important opportunities.
Set yourself a clear goal
Think in advance about what you want to achieve at the fair. Are you looking for your first job, an internship, or do you simply want to expand your professional network? A specific goal will help you to make your visit to the fair targeted and efficient.
Put together your application package
If you want to apply to a company on site, you should have a complete set of application documents with you. This includes a current CV, a cover letter and all relevant references.
Find out about the exhibiting companies
Thorough preparation for discussions with exhibitors is crucial to making a good impression. Before you talk to a company, you should find out in advance about its values or job vacancies, for example. This not only shows your interest, but also helps you to ask specific questions and address relevant topics. You can find useful information on the companies’ websites to give you an initial insight. On the sub-websites (Munich/Bochum), you will also find a detailed list of exhibitors, which allows you to see in advance which companies are represented. This enables you to plan which stands you want to visit.
Simulate conversations and prepare questions
Job interviews can often be an unfamiliar and uncomfortable experience. To ensure that you still make a good impression on your interviewers, it is helpful to think about the interview setting in advance and practice typical interview situations: What topics and questions might come up during the interview? Prepare a list of questions you would like to ask the company representatives and think about how you could answer possible questions about your career, skills and goals. Another good way to become more confident is to practice the interview with friends or family members. The more you practice, the more confident you will be at the actual fair.
Choosing the right clothing is crucial to making a good impression at a career fair. Especially when in direct contact with companies, a well-chosen outfit can positively emphasize your appearance. Even if there is no strict dress code, a neat and professional outfit is always advantageous – and can help you establish a positive connection with potential employers right away. However, make sure that you feel comfortable in your clothes so that you come across as authentic and confident.
ScieCon not only boasts an impressive portfolio of exhibitors, but also a colourful supporting program! On the day of the fair, you can look forward to presentations, live job interviews and much more. Be sure to check our website (Munich/Bochum) in advance so you don’t miss your favourite event.
On the subpages for each career fair (Munich/Bochum), we provide an overview of the exhibiting companies. There you will find detailed information about each company. This information will help you to select the companies that match your professional interests and career goals. This allows you to prepare optimally in advance, find out which companies you definitely want to approach, and plan your conversations at the fair in a targeted manner.
We recommend that you bring your own snacks and drinks. Especially if you plan to spend a long time at the fair, it is worth bringing food and drink with you. Items that do not stain are particularly suitable for this, so that your outfit does not accidentally suffer a visual downgrade.
Catering facilities may be provided on site – this can vary from fair to fair. For detailed information, you should regularly visit the official websites of this year’s ScieCons (Munich/Bochum).
