Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find all the information you need about matching with ScieMatch.

Are you looking for a job in the life sciences industry, but don't quite understand which employers are out there and what they stand for? That's where we come in. ScieMatch helps you gain an overview and navigate according to your needs. We help you find the employers that suit you best – before you apply. Your answers are anonymous, so unlike individual job ads, you can provide information based on your ideal professional environment. As you consider your needs, you simultaneously define the conditions for your next career step. So before you go to the trouble of sifting through a multitude of job advertisements and adapting yourself to them, or conducting time-consuming research on every potential company, you can simply let ScieMatch suggest the right employer for you.

Yes, ScieMatch is free for students and job seekers. Whether companies are displayed to you depends solely on how well the respective company matches your wishes and needs. We are able to offer this service as a non-profit student initiative!

In personnel psychology, the term “matching” is used when mutually beneficial relationships develop. Or, in plain English: matching means bringing together what fits together. And that's exactly what ScieMatch stands for: based on your information, we find the companies that best suit you: your personal matches!

The company suggestions are based on a comparison of your ideal requirements and the information provided by the companies. A match means that we have found a company that is a very good fit for you and your requirements. You should definitely take a closer look at the first three matches. The matching card shows you the match and initial information. From the matching card, you can click through to the detailed company profiles, which contain further information that is relevant to you as an applicant. From the company profile, you can go to the company's website, where you can take a look around and maybe even apply directly.

By default, ScieMatch does not share personal data with other users or companies. For more information, please refer to our privacy policy.

Yes — anytime! Every time you edit your answers, the matches are re-optimized. Simply log in to your ScieMatch account and select “Edit answers” in the Profile tab a little further down. Editing your answers is really easy.

Yes. We can offer this service as a non-profit student initiative! And, of course, it is not possible for companies to pay for better matching results.

The ScieMatch questionnaire is not intended as a personality test, but primarily asks about your wishes and ideals in a professional context. The questions are based on models for assessing corporate culture and studies on what is important to people in the context of their professional (re)orientation and when choosing their future employer. ScieMatch uses seven dimensions of employer attractiveness to answer relevant, realistic questions: 1. Image and growth, 2. Cooperation and leadership, 3. Further development and prospects, 4. Employment details, 5. Stress and balance, 6. Conditions and facilities, 7. Sustainability (environmental and social awareness). This allows the probability of a successful match to be displayed for each individual character and each specific company. If you would like to learn more about the background of individual questions, you can click on their info buttons in question mode.

So far, these include:

Project manager, business management, consultant, human resources management, data scientist/bioinformatician, scientist in industry, science communication, patent attorney, regulatory affairs, quality management, brand manager & marketing manager, product manager, medical science liaison, medical affairs (manager), drug safety, clinical monitor; Science Policy, Product Distributor

Of course, we are also constantly expanding the job profiles in the matching process, both in terms of the number of profiles and the information provided.

By default, ScieMatch does not share personal data with other users or companies. For more information, please refer to our privacy policy.

ScieMatch provides an assessment of the match. To do this, our matching engine queries the most important factors relating to the needs of both sides based on current studies. The matching algorithm is designed to achieve a high score (“true positives”) when there is a good match. However, a low score is not necessarily an indicator that there is no match at all (“false negatives”). If the score is below 60%, we recommend that you take a closer look at the company.
