CV checks
Your CV and cover letter are your calling cards, which determine whether you will be invited to an interview. It is therefore important that your CV is valuable and convincing in terms of content.

Workshop – Boost your LinkedIn®
Nowadays, almost all of us have heard of LinkedIn®. But how can we make the most of this network? What does a professional and appealing profile actually look like?
In this workshop, participants learned how to become a LinkedIn® AllStar and how to stand out in this business network. To this end, we took a closer look at profile design, use in the application process and the functions of the network.
Bioeconomy – more than just a concept
Bioeconomy is a technological and economic concept for the transition to sustainability and a circular economy in many areas, from agriculture to process industries. In this presentation by Karsten Schürrle, spokesperson for bioeconomy at DECHEMA e.V., we looked at the “active zones” and the diverse effects, e.g. on raw materials or education.
Science communication – between profession and passion
Science communication in biology faces specific challenges. These include the speed of scientific discovery in the life sciences, as well as the expectations and diversity of target groups, especially in times of fake news and propaganda. In this context, the VBIO has presented a position paper that outlines the specific issues and formulates recommendations for research funding bodies, universities, academies, and science and education policymakers. Key demands relate to the greater professionalization of scientists and the fundamental biological qualifications of communicators in the field of communication. What role can and should students and graduates play in this? What career opportunities are available?
Dr Carsten Roller from the Association for Biology, Biosciences and Biomedicine in Germany (Verband Biologie, Biowissenschaften und Biomedizin in Deutschland e.V.) addressed these and many other questions on the topic of science communication in a 60-minute presentation.
Live job interview with Akkodis
Have you always wanted to sit in on a job interview to find out what questions to expect and how to handle the situation successfully?
A live job interview took place at ScieCon Frankfurt! The btS candidate, Master’s student Paul Wagner, applied for a real job vacancy in advance with his CV and was interviewed by company representatives from Akkodis in front of visitors. Afterwards, the company representatives evaluated the performance and gave our candidate helpful tips and valuable strategies on how to make a convincing impression in a job interview! Of course, both sides were also able to ask questions about the interview or their preparation.
