The supporting program at ScieCon Berlin 2024 offered visitors a comprehensive range of services related to job applications, career entry and career development. This included personal contact with company representatives as well as career coaching, CV checks and application photo shootings. In addition, visitors were able to get to know selected exhibitors better during company presentations throughout the day and gain new perspectives in the panel discussion and live job interview. During the application photo shoot with our Bekko photographer, you had the opportunity to have your photo taken professionally at ScieCon.

CV checks

Your CV and cover letter are your calling cards, which determine whether you will be invited to an interview. It is therefore important that your CV is valuable and convincing in terms of content.

At ScieCon, you had the opportunity to have your CV reviewed and optimized by experts from A.S.I. and GSO in a personal consultation.

Career mentoring

Are you about to graduate and unsure which career in the life sciences is right for you? Do you feel overwhelmed by the many career paths available? Don't worry – we have the solution: our free career counseling at ScieCon Berlin!

In a personal 15-minute consultation, participants received valuable information about starting their careers and learned how to avoid typical mistakes during the job search and in the first steps of their careers. The aim was to help them find the job profile that best suits their skills and needs and to prepare them optimally for their career start in the life sciences.

Karl-Wilhelm Lagemann, founding partner of HR management consultancy Leiner + Partner, has over seven years of experience in advising companies and professionals. He supports people in career change situations and offered mini-consultations at ScieCon to clarify the most important questions in a personal conversation.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to take advantage of personal career counseling with Rouven Sperling, an experienced project manager at Berlin Partner. Thanks to his nearly twenty years of experience in career counseling, participants were able to receive valuable advice for their individual career paths.

Career Prospects in Life Sciences

The healthcare industry urgently needs new innovations. The workshop highlighted how unmet medical needs, demographic challenges, and cost pressures on one side, along with advancements in digitalization, AI, -omics technologies, and cell and gene therapies on the other, were driving significant changes. The workshop also explored whether there were truly great opportunities for students in this evolving field, offering valuable insights and a spotlight on the industry's direction in the fall of 2024.

These days, almost everyone has heard of LinkedIn®. But how do you make the most of this network? What characterizes a professional and appealing profile?

In this workshop, you had the chance to learn how to present yourself the best way possible and stand out from the crowd on LinkedIn®. We took an in-depth look at profile design, the use of LinkedIn® in the application process and the many functions of the network.

Efficient project management – The best tools for structured planning and delegation

Excel lists and Word documents are a thing of the past. Nowadays, there are a variety of free and paid applications that are much better suited to project management.

This compact workshop presented methods and tools that help increase productivity and save valuable time. The focus was on structured project planning and the efficient delegation of tasks.

Ferdinand Diestelkamp is 23 years old and has been active in btS for three years. Through his work with the association, he has gained a lot of experience in implementing and managing projects. He is also enthusiastic about the topic of self-optimization. As a result, he searched for better applications for project management and tried out many different programmes. He presented the results of this extensive research in his workshop, offering new insights into this topic.

Live job interview

Have you always wanted to know how a job interview works and what questions you might be asked? At ScieCon Berlin, you had the opportunity to attend a live job interview!

The audience watched as Michelle Bölcke, a master's student who had previously applied for a real job with her CV, was interviewed by a representative of the company Sanofi. Afterwards, the company representative evaluated Michelle's performance and gave her and the participants valuable tips and strategies on how to make a good impression at their next job interview.

Panel discussion

ScieCon is all about your career! That's why the experts on our panel discussion addressed the topic “How do scientific and technological trends affect the job market?”

Rapid developments in science and technology are fundamentally changing not only research and industry, but also the job market. In our panel discussion, company representatives from Akkodis, Catenion and Deloitte shed light on how new trends in life sciences, biotechnology and related disciplines are influencing the requirements for future professionals from different perspectives.

Our discussion panel offered you the opportunity to gain valuable insights from different industries. Participants learned which trends will shape the future of the labour market and how they can best prepare for them.
