As students and doctoral candidates in the life sciences, we also live out our spirit of research in the development of new concepts and innovative ideas. Full of curiosity and creativity, we question the status quo, learn from each other and develop ourselves and the btS together with the aim of becoming even better. We want to give all life sciences students and interested parties the opportunity to discover new things, to orient themselves personally and professionally and to develop further. From first semester students to doctoral candidates, we unite students of all educational levels in our motivation to actively shape our personal future and the future of the life sciences.

We enjoy volunteering and are active with over 1100 members at 21 university locations. Our motivation for volunteering is our enthusiasm to realize projects together in a nationwide network of young people, to learn from each other, to support each other and to celebrate our successes together. It is important to us that everyone has the same opportunities and that everyone can contribute and get involved in any area according to their own wishes.
In addition to our network of student members, our alumni and associate members from professorships, industry and other sponsoring organizations support us in our goal of offering an open and almost always free program for as many students as possible.

Our self-image as a btS member includes a strong sense of responsibility, reliability and honesty - towards ourselves, our fellow students and our cooperation partners. We always do our best by acting together and sustainably. Our aim is to provide students with interesting offers by constantly developing ourselves. One of our successes is that we have been able to win over many companies and research institutes over the years thanks to our reliability, enabling us to offer a wide range of services for students.

We value the individuality of our members and encourage creative, self-motivated commitment from individuals. Flat hierarchies in our association structure enable an open and tolerant exchange of ideas and communication at eye level. We value the opinions of others, creating a positive climate and a safe space in which new ideas are heard and everyone can contribute, try things out and develop freely. With our open error culture, we create space for personal growth.
